New on your Blog.
Fred Green's excellent talk from March 14, 2013 is now on Youtube. The link is on the Oral Histories page. Enjoy.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Fred is my mother's first cousin. We grew up across the road from Fred and my Auntie Kay and Uncle Ivan on Delmonte Ave. Being 12 or so years younger there were parts of his story that were new to me. For example, I never realized that Fred and family had lived with my Uncle Harold and Aunt Kate before building their house. I do however know the area well beginning in the 50s and went to school with many of the younger siblings. Old Mr. Poulson helped Gordie Truswell and me run away from home when I was 5 and he was 4 by giving us a lift on his horse drawn wagon. We were going to Nanaimo to get married. Unfortunately we were headed out the old Pat Bay Hightway and were seen by Norrie Spencer's mother who phoned my father. Boy did I get a licking - not for running away but for being on the highway.
