For information on other schools in Saanichton you could contact the Saanich Pioneer Society. I believe Mt. Newton colors were gold and blue.
I hope I understood your question correctly. Our interest is mainly about people who lined in Royal Oak and went to school at Royal Oak. Many of us were bussed to other schools at various times.
Daryl, Could you direct me to anyone who might have late 60's Mt. Newton class photos. Even though I was from Brentwood Bay back in the day I did enjoy navigating the site. Lots of time and effort. Well done! Rick Yuill
Hello Rick, I believe that there is a group that is younger than us that might have something for you. I will try to find a contact number for you. Daryl.
Rick, I have two names and numbers for you that might help. Please be so kind as to confirm that you have received this message and should you wish to converse further please give me your email address. Thank you, Daryl. Wayne Watkins, president, I think, of Brentwood Bay Old School Heritage. His number is 250-652-1247 Tisha Richard and she organizes the gatherings each summer over at Centennial Park. Her phone number is 250-391-9838
Daryl, Wayne or Tisha were not able to help directly but provided a tip which may help. Thanks for your assistance. I've mentioned your site to several people. I can be reached at j.yuill@shaw.ca. Happy holidays, Rick Yuill.
I'll put your question to the group at our next meeting in mid January. Most of our group were there in the 1950's so there may be no result. May I ask what is your connection?. Daryl
I attended Brentwood ELementary from Sept 1958 until 1963 when we moved to Durrance Lake Elementary School. In 1965, I attended Mt. Newton Jr Sec. We had at that time EJ Doran as principal, Colin Inkster as VP, Ms Wilkinson (English), Mr. Coates (metailwork), Mr. Bennell, Mr. Anstey (woodwork), Ms Coleman (Science), Mr Tom Brown (Science), the other Mr Brown (metalwork?), Mr. Cyril Fournier (French), Mr. Dickenson (math), Mr. Hiebbert (PE), Mr. Fraser (English), Mr. Davis (science), as I recall.
Yes, Mt. Newton Jr. High's colours were definitely Gold and Blue! One of the Teachers wrote a "School Song" about it in 1965. "Here's to Mt. Newton! To the dear old Gold and Blue! Here's to Mt. Newton we will always be true to you! Rah Rah Rah! It was not a great song, but it was a start! I went there until 1966. Linda
what was Saanichton school, at Mt. Newton's school colors in the year 1985?
